Guests watching the northern lights on an Aurora Dreams tour near Kiruna

About Aurora Dreams

A local Kiruna tour company built around one idea: chase the sky honestly, in small groups, with people who live here.

Who We Are

Aurora Dreams AB (org.nr 559557-9318) is a tour company based in Kiruna, Sweden — 145 km above the Arctic Circle, under the auroral oval, where aurora can be visible even at low activity levels when the sky is dark and clear. We run small-group northern lights chases, ice fishing trips and day tours to Abisko National Park.

Our guides live in Kiruna. That matters more than it sounds: aurora chasing is a local-knowledge game. Reading how the cloud moves during the evening, choosing dark and safe places to stop, and knowing which roads are sensible at −25 °C — flexible, safe route planning is what a local guide adds. Sightings are never guaranteed on any tour.

Tours run in Swedish and Russian, and our guides can communicate in practical English during the tour.

How We Run Our Tours

Honesty About the Aurora

The northern lights are a natural phenomenon. They depend on solar activity and cloud cover, and no company can guarantee them — including us. What we guarantee is the effort: we monitor conditions throughout the evening and may change direction or relocate when it is safe, useful and possible. Kiruna's latitude (67°N) works in your favour — even weak aurora activity is often visible here under a clear sky.

If a tour runs as planned and no aurora appears, we offer 50% off your next tour with us. The full policy is in our terms and conditions.

Why Guided Chasing Beats Going Alone

Plenty of visitors try aurora hunting on their own — and for some it works. But it means renting a car, driving unfamiliar ice roads in the dark, interpreting KP and cloud forecasts in real time, and standing in the cold hoping you picked the right spot. A guided chase gives you a local guide who regularly chases the aurora here in season, dark-sky locations away from streetlights, and warmth while you wait. We wrote an honest comparison in "Is a Northern Lights tour worth it?" — including when you should not book a tour.
